A good knife needs a good sheath if you are going to carry it every day. I bought a very nice skinning knife at a show in Dallas a few years ago, but never carried it because of the sheath. The belt loop was awkward, the leather didn't go well with my everyday wear, and it was awkward to draw, so it sat in the safe most of the time.

Damascus Skinning Knife Sheath

Fast forward to my leather working adventure - if I could make a decent home for a 1911, certainly I could provide an adequate home for the knife. The first try wasn't too bad, but I considered it a trial run and made another. Much better.

I make sheaths specifically for the knife. For the best fit, I need to have the knife as a pattern and to mold the sheath to the blade.
